Typhoon Angela of the 2052 Pacific typhoon season was the most powerful typhoon to exist so early in the year.
Meteorological history[]
In the opening days of the new year, an easterly wave formed to the south of the Hawaiian Islands. Several days after the wave formed, The Joint Typhoon Warning Center started to monitor the wave 500 miles east from the International Dateline on late January 5. Slowly organizing, The large disturbance moved to the Western Pacific on late January 7. An ASCAT pass on January 9 revealed an compact circulation and winds of 65 km/h, hence the JMA named it Angela.
