The FMC was one of the first centers that tracked usercanes.

The Floyd Meteorological Center (FMC) is a meteorological weather service that tracks systems across North and Central America. In addition, the center is responsible for initiating advisories on systems worldwide - including the North and South Atlantic, and the East and West Pacific. Additional branches are located within land masses found in each basin. The center is owned and operated by its founder, StrawberryMaster, in addition to the FMC's team of forecasters.

Forecasters[]

The FMC has several forecasters, including ones who issue forecasts on specific basins:

  • Forecasters Gregory, Arthur, Douglas, Alissa, Adam, Marie, and Lara: issue forecasts on the usercane basin.
  • Forecaster Jake: issues forecasts for the Japaya basin.
  • Forecasters Ramon, Bob, Anna, Rafael: forecast the foodcane basin.

SAPA scale[]

The "Strawberry Advanced Pressure Area (SAPA)" scale uses a slightly modified SSHWS scale. The scale is commonly referred to as SAPA, having lost its original meaning. Originally inspired by scales made by the HTMC and the PMC, the scale underwent a change on June 25, 2018, where the "Category 0" and "Severe tropical depression" classifications were discontinued for simplicity. A tropical depression's range is now classified as 21 to 38 mph, while the range of a severe tropical storm is now 54 to 73 mph.

Scale[]

Classification (SAPA) Pressure (mph)
Tropical disturbance (FMC) ≤20mph
Tropical depression (FMC) 21-38 mph
Tropical storm (FMC) 39-54 mph
Severe tropical storm (FMC) 54-73 mph
Category 1 hurricane (FMC) 74-95 mph
Category 2 hurricane (FMC) 96-110 mph
Category 3 hurricane (FMC) 111-129 mph
Category 4 hurricane (FMC) 130-156 mph
Category 5 hurricane (FMC) 157+ mph

Discontinued classifications[]

Classification (SAPA) Pressure (mph)
Severe tropical depression (FMC) 30-38 mph
Category 0 hurricane (FMC) 65-73 mph
