Metworlogicaal History[]

In 1987 a tropical storm formed 800 miles offshore southern Baja California. This was the start of a historic event. On Jun.20, it was classified a tropical storm. It had a name for a while, Leonard, but it slowed down to Less than 3MPH offshore California, giving it the name "Slow". It moved so slow it didn't make it to San Francisco until Oct.30. On Halloween, it made landfall with a historic 45ft storm surge created by not only the tropical storm, but also an unnamed Cat.5 typhoon. It brought an extra 80ft of rain of rain in just 3 weeks rusting the Golden Gate Bridge to the point of snapping. It left San Francisco on Thanksgiving. It sped up when it reached the California-Nevada border. It dissipated over Central California on Dec.3. It had killed 203,828 people. It had made it's way into the Record Books.
