The 2030 Atlantic hurricane season was near average, in response to a dissipating el nino event. The season had 12 named storms, 5 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes. The season began with Tropical Storm Alberto on June 21, and ended on October 24, with Tropical Storm Leslie. Initially forecasted to be a below average season, forecasts were increased as the el nino dissipated.
The season had some notable cyclones. In June, Tropical Storm Alberto almost became a hurricane and struck Alabama. In July, the massive Hurricane Beryl caused tremendous damage along the east coast. In August, Hurricane Gordon caused heavy damage in the Lesser Antilles, and eventually Europe, as a hurricane force extratropical cyclone. In September, Hurricane Kirk became the strongest storm of the season. In October, Tropical Storm Leslie caused light damage in Cuba, ending the season.
These names were used for tropical storms that formed in 2030. The names that were not retired from this list will be used again in the 2036 season. This is the same list used in 2024, except for Hailey and Pandora, which replaced Helene and Patty. The name Hailey was used for the first time this year.
