Saffir-Simpson Scale (SSB64 Edition)

Note that, for example, if a Hurricane has an atmospheric pressure of a Category 3, and a wind speed of a Category 1, or vice versa, the higher category aspect takes priority, though will be considered a psudeo-.

In an alternate universe where the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) decided to add to the Saffir-Simpson Scale, Category 6 was introduced in January of 2026 due to requests to add onto the scale from many meteorologists and scientists. Category 6 encompasses every wind speed up to Hurricane Patricia, and every atmospheric pressure up to Typhoon Tip. As well, due to concerns regarding civilians not taking a Category 5 as seriously anymore, the WMO changed a Category 5 from a Major Hurricane, to a Catastrophic Hurricane alongs…

guy what do u think of the 2024 hurricane season

personally, i am expecting an average to slightly below average atlantic hurricane season in 2024 due to rapid mdr cooling events caused by saharan dust outbreaks in the summer.

also thinking there will be significant instability issues in the mdr due to a warm pool near newfoundland and an overly strong la nina.

my numbers:

10-15 ns

3-5 hurricanes

0-1 majors

thoughts?

2023 Pacific Typhoon Season (LamboCoin Cars)

Note: Under blog category while I put this together.

The 2023 Pacific Typhoon Season was a below average year in terms of number of named storms. However, the year can best be described as 'quality over quantity' due to the number of storms that became powerful typhoons.

In the Western Pacific, 18 storms formed, which is half the average of 36 per season. Of the 18 storms, 16 became typhoons, and 10 became majors. The first storm was Mawar in the Gulf of Thailand on January 30th, and the last storm was Gaemi in the equatorial Pacific near the Philippines on December 9th. The strongest system of the season (and in Western Pacific recorded history) was Super Typhoon Doksuri, reaching an extreme peak of 310mph and 775mb on June 8th during the 202…

New updates on the Atlantic vs. Pacific hurricane contest. This contest is functionally over, given both seasons end in two days. With the addition of Ramon to the East Pacific's tally, we have a preliminary end to the contest. The tally is 53-39 for the East Pacific, its biggest lead in over 5 years.

In 2022, the East Pacific defeated the Atlantic 38-28, its first win since 2018, after a narrow 38-35 defeat in 2021 and a 64-31 landslide defeat in 2020 to the Atlantic.

With that being said... congratulations to the East Pacific for winning the 2023 Atlantic vs. East Pacific season contest…

2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season (LamboCoin Cars)

The 2023 Worldwide Cyclone Season is an ongoing season of tropical cyclone activity. The year has been around average in terms of named storms, however, very notable in terms of the ratios of major cyclones. Much of the first eight months of the year were been defined by long periods of only a couple storms being active, albeit very strong systems, followed by brief but large bursts of high activity.

Four periods of time can be sorted as 'very active,' which consists of major systems in the Southern Hemisphere from February-March, the 2023 Grad Hyperactive period, consisting of 30 closely spaced storms from mid May to mid June, another burst of Pacific activity starting in late July and lasting through mid-August, and the Atlantic waking up…

a brief judgement of farm river's WMHB list 5 retirements

yes i did get bored why did you ask?

So yea the TG episode of the main series is on hold for RN. So have some filler

1983

  • Chantal: the C3 Texas landfall happens in a fairly rural area BUT it would be close to Freeport. Big question mark on this one
  • Dean: see Chantal above, but replace "Freeport" with "Rockport"
  • The death tolls given for both storms are likely too high but the damages may be somewhat close to the mark. Both would be astronomical for 1983 so if they are true then both names would be given a justified retirement

1989

  • Marilyn: yeah that MH whack on Delaware basically guarantees retirement

1995

  • Sebastien: just barely nicks NC but it does so at high end C4 intensity, it then hits NE as a C2. Likely retirement candidate
  • Wendy: C3 landfall …

2023 Pacific Hurricane Season (LamboCoin Cars)

The 2023 Pacific Hurricane Season was a below average year in terms of number of named storms, however, most of those storms went onto become very powerful hurricanes.

In the Eastern Pacific, with 14 depressions and 13 storms, the season had the least number of storms since the 2020 season. Eleven of those storms though became hurricanes, with every hurricane becoming a major hurricane at some point in their lifespan. That means about 80% of storms that formed became majors, a very large ratio in an excellent example of a quality over quantity season.

The Central Pacific also added to this tally, after a slumber of almost three years. Four storms formed from June-August, with all four becoming hurricanes and all but one (Iona) becoming majors.…

Usually happens when the storm has over 50 billion dollars in damage, or if they were otherwise historically notable. 6 years on HHW (and a belated 1-year anniversary of this account!)

Based on the time I made my first edit on my first account on October 23, 2017 at 01:45 EST, today would be my sixth wikiversary! If you don't know what it is, it's a wiki anniversary, simply put.

What does that mean? It means I have been here for SIX years. That's a lot of time when you think about it. Since I forgot to write a message for my fifth wikiversary (not sure if I did, but whatever), I'll make it up here, through a letter of thanks from a six-year user:

Dear Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki:

New updates on the Atlantic vs. Pacific hurricane contest, even though this will probably be outdated pretty soon. As it stands, the East Pacific retakes the lead, 40 to 36, although we're getting close to an end here - the East Pacific increases its score by six points, powered by Lidia and (to a lesser extent) Max, while the Atlantic increases its score by one point, due to the formation of Sean.

In 2022, the East Pacific defeated the Atlantic 38-28, its first win since 2018, after a narrow 38-35 defeat in 2021 and a 64-31 landslide defeat in 2020 to the Atlantic.

  • 1 temperature table chart
  • 2 how to convert to kelvin
    • 2.1 fahrenheit to kelvin

here is how to convert celsius or fahrenheit to kelvin. kelvin is the temperature scientifically used for gases.

the formula to convert fahrenheit to kelvin is K = 5/9(F − 32) + 273.15 because using the math formula insert didn't work so it's like this now!!!

imagine F = 924 and you wanna convert it to kelvin. just follow the steps from the formula :3

  1. 5/9(924 - 32) . subtract 32 from 924 first.
  2. 5/9(892) . multiply 5/9 by 892.
  3. 495.6 + 273.15 . add them both.

you get the temperature, which is 768.75 .

in progress so wait

New Series Announcement

#visualisforlosers

Ah, what-might-have-been seasons. We've all seen them, most of us like them, and some of us usually read them to see how insanely strong some of the TCs get, and what the naming lists look like in present. And with that second one, of course, come retirements. But sometimes there comes a retirement you don't particularly agree with. And sometimes, it's for a valid reason (although dog poop diarrhea 2018 me wouldn't think so).

That's where I come in.

Back in Ye Olden Days, I discovered a blog post by Sass called "Judging Retired Names". It basically reviewed every single Atlantic basin retirement since 1979, and in it Sass gave his opinions on if the name deserved it or not. (Well over half of them did.)

Anyways, taking that id…

2020 Worldwide Cyclone Season (LamboCoin Cars)

The 2020 Worldwide Cyclone Season was the least active year for tropical cyclones in recorded history, with only 29 systems forming. The year was characterized by extremely long gaps in activity, with the occasional intense cyclone between.
