The 2058 Pacific hurricane season was notable in several aspects, Starting with Aila. the first March hurricane, After Aila had formed. Brandon became the earliest Eastern Pacific category 5 hurricane. Other notable events are: Ellie's rapid weakening before landfall, Jenna's day and a half 210 mph stint and rare Gulf of California transit, Narelle's formation from an upper level low, Quinn's explosive deepening from a tropical storm to a category 5 in 24 hours, and ending with Vero and Walter.

An upper level-low that was previously a powerful winter storm exited the Baja California peninsula on March 6, As it moved slowly to the west. It started to acquire tropical characteristics, And by March 12 the core of the upper level low transitioned into a tropical depression, 18 hours after formation. Tropical Depression 1-E was named Aila, becoming the first ever March storm recorded in the Eastern Pacific.
