The 2016 western European basin cyclone season was the most active by far in history, with 13 tropical storms (+ one subtropical), eight hurricanes, and three major hurricanes, despite there never being major hurricanes in the Euro basin before. Included Major Hurricane Ellie, the strongest hurricane in the Euro basin (130-135 mph/935mbar)
