The 2010 Atlantic usercane season was the first documented Atlantic usercane season in the official usercane season database. The season was well below-average in terms of the number of tropical usercyclones and named userstorms with only four of each, the lowest value recorded within the database. However, the season was average in the amount of major usercanes, with three of them. The season had no official bounds, running year-round in 2010 with the peak of the season running between June and December.
The strongest storm was Usercane Sjmaven, which acquired maximum sustained winds of 180 mph (290 km/h) and is the first tropical usercyclone recorded after 2009. Sjmaven dissipated for over five years, but regenerated several times after its initial regeneration in January 2016. The second system was Usercane Dylan, which peaked as a Category 5 usercane. The third system was Tropical Userstorm Marsha, the weakest storm of the season. The fourth and final system to form was Usercane Yellow Flash, which would become a Category 4 usercane years later. Yellow Flash would outlast Sjmaven by over two years, despite Sjmaven being the stronger storm.
Seasonal summary[]
The 2010 Atlantic usercane season ran throughout 2010. None of the four tropical usercyclones affected land, despite three of them being fairly intense. The season was notable for being fairly intense overall, with a 4:3 userstorm to usercane ratio. The intensities of the storms were likely due to the overall lower pressures in the Atlantic Ocean, which increased gradually after 2016.
Storms[]
Usercane Sjmaven (Sjmaven1993)[]

Duration | September 28 – November 21, 2017 |

Peak intensity | 180 mph (285 km/h) (1-min) 895 mbar (hPa) |
On September 28, a non-tropical low near the Bahamas began to gain some tropical characteristics as it tracked northeastward. Its winds explosively intensified from 10 to 180 mph and was named "Sjmaven". Originally, Sjmaven was thought to be the first documented usercane in history until 2018, when earlier storms were identified. Moving northeastward, it maintained this intensity until turning extratropical on December 5, 2010. Sjmaven briefly nearly regenerated into a subtropical cyclone on April 27, 2012, but wind shear stopped that from happening.
In early 2016, it was discovered that the remnants of Sjmaven still existed, about 100 miles (161 kilometers) west of Portugal. The system acquired some convective branding on January 26, 2016. They later regenerated two days later into a subtropical depression. On January 30, Sjmaven was upgraded back into a Subtropical Storm. Sjmaven fluctuated between subtropical depression and remnant low status before degenerating into a remnant low on October 9, 2016.
In October 2017, the long-lived remnants of Sjmaven began to travel south of Spain before eventually moving west. The remnants, now over water, began to acquire tropical characteristics. Eventually, convection increased quickly and on October 26, the remnants of Sjmaven had redeveloped as a tropical storm.
